The new GHM Creative will help you develop yourself as a creative, but the focus is not on the industry, it's on you flexing your creative muscles to create something you love.

  • WHAT IS THIS FOR?

    This session is designed to help you tap into your creativity & explore the art of choreography, with an emphasis on the process of creation. You’ll learn to develop your work, whether for live performance or on camera, within a set time frame.

    You’ll learn to:

    · embrace the creative challenge of developing choreography from the ground up

    · think quickly on your feet

    · pivot without getting married to what you’ve created

    · see restrictions as creative challenges instead of as frustrating limitations

    · approach the creative process with freedom & curiosity

    · create choreography within a time budget, balancing creativity with efficiency

    · bring your choreography to life, whether live or on camera

    · take risks without fear of failure

    Apply your creative techniques in:

    · Creating Live Work

    · Film and camera work

    · Rehearsals and productions

    · Content creation for social media or personal projects

Structure:

  • 2 DAYS

  • 8 HOURS PER DAY, 16 HOURS TOTAL

  • WE PROVIDE THE DANCERS FOR YOU TO CHOREOGRAPH ON

  • YOU DECIDE CAMERA ANGLES, WARDROBE, PROPS, SONG- THE VISION IS ALL YOURS!

  • YOU MAY CREATE ANY STYLE OF CHOREOGRAPHY & WILL HAVE TIME TO PREP BEFORE THE SESSION STARTS

  • YOU CAN CREATE FOR STAGE OR SCREEN

  • ALL WORK IS DONE IN STUDIO

  • PROFESSIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT YOU SHOULD BE EXPERIENCED IN SETTING CHOREOGRAPHY ON DANCERS.

You will choreograph and create choreography for the stage or screen, setting it on dancers we provide, with an allotted amount of time per person.

There will be both individual feedback and group discussions throughout the process.

  • Almost every single person who has attended has made the decision to join us in the face of fear! The intensive is built to focus on overcoming big obstacles in your dancing (some of which you may not even be aware of) and that is naturally going to be a scary thing. Galen’s only objective is for you to WIN- take advantage of this very unique space where you are encouraged to make mistakes & have someone with decades of experience giving you customized feedback just for you.

  • We send out the exact time and location in the week or two leading up to each session.

  • The Galen Hooks Method is currently offered for those 16 years of age or older.  If you are under 16, send a link to assistants@galenhooks.com showcasing your dance ability and we will assess your placement! The youngest student has been 10, oldest has been 65!
