In-Person Session FAQs

What COVID precautions will you be taking for in-person classes?

In addition to requiring every attendee to be fully vaccinated, we will still be taking every necessary COVID prevention to protect the health and safety of everyone in the room. This includes temperature checks upon entrance, sanitizing all areas before and throughout the class, using a larger studio, and adhering to the studio’s COVID guidelines for room capacity.

Will you still be offering digital sessions?

Yes! For those who are under 16, not able to get vaccinated, immunocompromised, unable to travel, or just want to participate from the comfort of your own home, we are still offering digital sessions as well.

How are you verifying that students have been vaccinated?

In order to prioritize everyone’s health and safety and eliminate the risk of spreading COVID-19, all attendees are required to be vaccinated at least TWO WEEKS prior to the start date of their session. You must provide proof of vaccination, as well as a photo ID to verify at the time of registration. You will be required to bring your vaccination card and a matching photo ID to check-in at your session. Dance studios may also independently require full vaccination upon entry. You are still able to register without vaccination proof, but you will receive an email prior to your session to send us a photo of your card.

What if I get sick, injured, or cannot attend my session for another reason?

The standard terms and conditions still apply:

If the cancellation is at least 14 days prior to the start time, you will be refunded 50% of the full session cost.

What if I will have one dose of my vaccine, but not both, by the start date of my session?

Since the CDC has deemed the vaccine less effective after only one dose, we cannot allow those who have not been FULLY vaccinated to attend in person.

I am not vaccinated now, but plan to be fully vaccinated 2 weeks prior to the session. Is that okay?

Yes, go ahead and register now even if you do not have a vaccine yet! Upon registration, you will be given the option to upload proof of your vaccination if you have it already. If you do not have proof of being vaccinated at the time of registration, we will follow up with you via email three weeks prior to your session in order to obtain a picture of your vaccination card and photo ID. We will send a reminder via email at the two week mark. Don’t forget to also bring your card to check-in as well as a matching photo ID for proof on the first day.

Is a negative COVID test alone sufficient enough to attend the session in person?

In an effort to eliminate any risk to students’ health and safety, a negative COVID test is not sufficient to attend in person. It is possible to test negative, but still get covid in the time that passes before the session starts, so we will not be accepting negative covid tests as a substitute for being vaccinated. Some of the studios we are holding the intensives in are requiring vaccinations and we must abide by their guidelines. Our first priority is to protect your liability to reduce the spread of COVID, as well as the safety of everyone in class.

For students who are under 16 years of age or otherwise are unable to get vaccinated and still want to attend an in-person session, email us with the subject line ‘In-Person Intensive: Not vaccinated’, and we will discuss next steps.

Why are you requiring attendees to be vaccinated?

The vaccination is the best protection we currently have against catching and transmitting COVID 19. Our first priority is to protect your health, the health of all students in class and the health of your loved ones. We believe requiring vaccinations is the best way to do this. In addition the studios where the intensives take place may also independently require proof of vaccination to enter their premises. Both California and New York may be using Vaccination Passports at the time these sessions take place.

Will Galen be vaccinated?

Yes! Galen’s first priority is adhering to the CDC guidelines and keeping everyone in class healthy and safe.

What if I have valid reasons as to why I am unable or unwilling to get vaccinated?

For immediate access to an intensive, please join us in a digital session!

For future access to in-person sessions, stay tuned as we adjust according to CDC guidelines. For the time being every participant must be vaccinated for the sake of keeping all students safe.

We recognize that some of you are not vaccinated and wish to attend in-person sessions, and plan to offer opportunities in the near future per CDC guidelines, potentially even before the end of 2021.

This specific set of Summer dates is only for those who have been fully vaccinated for at least two weeks. Since these sessions are months away, there is a possibility that CDC guidelines may change and we will be able to add you, so be sure to stay tuned for any updates.

For students who are under 16 years of age or otherwise are unable to get vaccinated and still want to attend an in-person session, email us with the subject line ‘In-Person Intensive: Not vaccinated’, and we will discuss next steps.

I am not vaccinated and do not plan on getting vaccinated, what are my options?

If you wish to attend a session but are not vaccinated, please join one of our digital sessions, or wait until (hopefully in the near future!) the CDC deems it safe for everyone to gather, regardless of vaccination status. We are following CDC guidelines to gauge what is safe in regard to group gatherings and other COVID safety precautions. We plan to update our policies as the CDC deems it is safe to do so, so please stay tuned for further information and updates!

Will you update your vaccination policy when it becomes safe to do so?

Yes! We plan to fully adhere to the CDC’s guidelines about the rules and regulations of safely gathering in groups. Eventually, when it becomes safe to gather with both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, we will update our policy. We are just as excited as you are to have everyone come dance in person!
